What is WordPress?

Have you ever heard of WordPress? Simply put, WordPress is a tool for building a website.

It’s an open source software developed by people across the world released under a license that guarantees freedom, and is free for everyone to use.

WordPress is supported by communities around the world. In Japan, there are 25 WordPress Meetup groups managed by volunteer members, and a number of contributors are active on various Make WordPress teams.

What is WordCamp?

WordCamp is an official WordPress event held around the world with the approval of the WordPress Foundation [1].  While some blogging, business, and social media-focused topics related to WordPress will be covered, many of the programs will be WordPress-specific. In Japan, the community has held a total of 29 WordCamps in various locations including Tokyo, Kansai (region), and Niigata.

WordCamp Japan 2021 will be held entirely online due to the global outbreak of the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), which has been spreading worldwide since early 2020.
